Wicked Strong’s robust F-T Midlantic sale
May 22, 2019
Tuesday’s closing session of the May 20-21 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in Training sale continued to produce big returns for the first crop from Wicked Strong, topped by a $200,000 filly from consignor Bobby Dodd.
Cataloged as hip No. 590, the filly is the first foal out of the Flatter mare Wicked Wonder, whose siblings include stakes horses Mazella and Veuve. The Kentucky-bred filly had breezed a co-fastest furlong in 10 seconds flat during the Under Tack Show.
Wicked Strong, who had a $240,000 colt during the sale’s Monday session, is partaking in Spendthrift’s Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
