Wicked Strong filly zips a bullet in :10 flat at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic
May 17, 2019
A filly from the first crop of Wicked Strong breezed a bullet eighth of a mile in 10 seconds flat Thursday during the final session of the Under Tack Show for the May 20-21 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds.
Bobby Dodd is the consignor of the dark bay filly, hip No. 590, who will sell during the second session of the auction.
“She’s just a fast filly,” Dodd said. “I liked her body and she was correct,” said Dodd on purchasing the filly at the 2018 Keeneland Yearling sale. “She’s really pretty.”
The Kentucky-bred is the first foal out of the Flatter mare With Wonder, who is a half-sister to the stakes-placed fillies Mazella and Veuve.
Wicked Strong has seven individuals in the Midlantic catalog, also including hip 131, a strong-moving colt that breezed :10.2 on day one of the Under Tack Shows when the track was yielding slower times.
Wicked Strong’s 2-year-olds have averaged nearly 10 times his stud fee during the spring auction season, while his first winner, the filly Secretly Wicked, won on debut at Keeneland. He is one of six Spendthrift first-crop stallions participating in the farm’s Safe Bet program in 2019, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of 2-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
