Wicked Strong adds two new maiden winners
September 21, 2019
Wicked Strong now has 11 First-Crop winners following a pair of four-length scores by Smart N Wicked and Evil Lyn on Sept. 20 and 21, respectively.
A top-five freshman sire by winners, Wicked Strong’s runners have flourished in September, with Wicked Runner his first graded stakes winner, Wicked Slider becoming stakes-placed, and Wicked Warrior an allowance winner.
Smart N Wicked was making her debut in a five-furlong maiden special weight race for open company. In a three-way battle for the lead until the top of the stretch, the dark bay opened up a lead she wouldn’t relinquish to win going away.
Smart N Wicked is owned by Jose Luna Silva and was bred by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm, William Matthews and Filippo Santoro. Her dam Smarty B was a stakes winner and is from the family of multiple graded winners Twining and Aquilegia.
Evin Lyn got her first win going 6 ½-furlongs at Churchill Downs, coming from a few lengths off the pace to grab the lead in upper stretch and widened to the wire.
Evil Lyn races for Ike and Dawn Thrash and was bred in Kentucky by Lantern Hill Farm and Phil & Judy Needham. She is a half-sister to stakes winner Candy Giant and her second dam Candy Apple is a half-sister to champion Candy Ride.
