Wake Up in Malibu stellar in Saginaw S.

Wake Up in Malibu put on a sparkling display in the $100,000 Saginaw S. July 8 at Belmont Park, setting very fast fractions and still coming home a convincing 2 1/2-length winner.

The victory was the first stakes win for the son of Malibu Moon, who is once again in the top 10 on the General Sire list with five stakes winners, 79 overall winners and progeny earnings of more than $4.8 million to date.

Wake Up in Malibu proved simply too tough for his foes as he hustled to the lead under Manny Franco, laying down fractions of :45.12 for the half-mile and 1:08.71 for six furlongs, then opened up in the stretch and stopped the timer in 1:40.39 for the 1 1/16-miles, just a second off the track record. He earned a career-best 98 Beyer Speed Figure.

With the win, Wake Up in Malibu is now 5-3-5 in 16 starts and has earned $286,110 for owners Saul and Max Kupferberg.
