February 10, 2022
Champion Vino Rosso has begun the 2022 sales season with more solid results for his newly-christened yearlings, already notching a pair of six-figure lots to raise his overall total of weanlings and yearlings to bring at least $100,000 to 19.
Vino Rosso’s top lot at the recently-concluded Fasig-Tipton Winter Mixed Sale was a $108,000 filly that was offered by St. George Sales, agent, and purchased by Artic Bloodstock. The dark bay filly, hip No. 515, is the second foal out of Sastrugi, whose first foal is a 2-year-old this year.
Sastrugi is a half-sister to millionaire and Grade 1 winner Morning Line, as well as the stakes winner Liam’s Pride. The subject filly’s third dam is Alabama S. (G1) and Test S. (G1) winner November Snow.
Vino Rosso also had a $95,000 colt, hip No. 13, at the sale. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent, and purchased by Norevale Farm, the chestnut youngster is out of Shebealittlebitwild, whose dam She Be Wild won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and was champion 2-year-old filly.
