November 20, 2023
P Mutter Pickle was in control from the outset in her dominating maiden special weight win Nov. 19 at Aqueduct, cruising to an official 8 ¼-length victory to become the 21st winner from Vino Rosso’s first crop of runners.
Vino Rosso, who will stand for $25,000 S&N in 2024, leading the First-Crop list by black type hoses, with nine, and by graded and Grade 1 horses, with four in each category.
P Mutter Pickle, who was making her debut in the 6 ½-furlong affair, sprung right to the front and sped through a quarter-mile in :22.85. Mel’s Baby Sister, a daughter of Cross Traffic, put some pressure on the pacesetter around the turn, but P Mutter Pickle easily shook her off to win in hand in 1:18.33 on a fast track.
The winner is owned by The Elkstone Group, LLC, who obtained her for $125,000 as a yearling. P Mutter Pickle is the second foal out of Lost Raven, winner of the Miss Preakness S. (G3) and three additional black type events.
