Vino Rosso colt tops Keeneland January session

The Keeneland January sale came to a close Friday, and Vino Rosso had another banner day with the session’s top yearling by a freshman sire.
The bay colt, hip No. 1396, was consigned by Paramount Sales, agent for breeders Drumkenny Farm and Joe Senkovich, was purchased for $100,000 by Barry Lamb.
The colt is the 17th six-figure price paid for either a weanling or yearling from Vino Rosso’s first crop.
The colt is out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Lauded, who is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Brave Tin Soldier and a half-sister to Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Fusaichi Pegasus.
Vino Rosso, winner of the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Champion Older Male that year, is standing the 2022 season for $20,000 S&N.
