Vekoma’s Mi Bago goes gate-to-wire in $100,000 Pulpit S.

Mi Bago chalked up his second stakes win of his young career with a front-running score in the $100,000 Pulpit S. on Nov. 29 at Gulfstream Park.
The 2-year-old son of Vekoma, who is one of four stakes winners and 13 stakes horses for his sire, took the Oct. 5 Algonquin S. at Woodbine.
Hustled away from the gate in the 7 ½-furlong turf race, Mi Bago was eager to distance himself from the field and opened a 3 ½-length lead in the first three furlongs. He was still full of run around the turn and down the stretch, leaving the field in his way to finish in a very good 1:27.06 on the firm turf.
“He’s got the talent,” said Nick Tomlinson, assistant to trainer Mark Casse. “Especially for a 2-year-old to go three-quarters in 1:09, that’s a lot to ask of them. The performance today was extremely impressive. We’ll definitely keep him on the grass. There’s a lot of good 3-year-old stakes coming up. We’ll just have to see how it all plays out and go from there.”
Mi Bago, who has now raced at five different tracks in his five starts, is 3-0-0 and has earned $178,910 for owner Gary Barber. Mi Bago was bred by Highclere, Inc.
Vekoma leads all First-Crop sires with 35 individual winners this year. Spendthrift recently announced his 2025 fee at $35,000 S&N.
