Vekoma tops Fasig-Tipton New York opener with $300,000 colt
August 12, 2024
Vekoma had the session co-topper during Sunday’s opening day of the Aug. 11-12 Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearlings sale when hip No. 386 brought a winning bid of $300,000.
Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency and bred by Cheryl A Prudhomme & Dr. Michael Gallivan, the chestnut colt was purchased by trainer Christophe Clement.
“He looked fast,” Clement said when asked about the yearling’s appeal. “I liked him very much. He looked very athletic. My son Miguel told me about him. At the moment, I bought him on spec, so I need to find some owners to help me and support me and we will go from there. He is a lovely horse.”
The colt is out of Alana’s Allure and is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Allure of Money.
With a yearling average price of $268,200, Vekoma leads all Second-Crop Sires of 2024 in the category.
