Vekoma juveniles make big impact at OBS Under Tack Show

Multiple Grade 1 winner Vekoma, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2024, had a total of eight juveniles work a furlong in 10 seconds or less during the OBS Under Tack Show for the March 2-year-olds in Training Sale that runs the 12^th-14^th.

Topping the list was hip No. 448, a filly who turned in a blazing :09 3/5 work, the fastest of the entire show. The gray filly, consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc., is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Minnelli, who is a half-sister to graded winner Wow Me Free. The Kentucky-bred will sell on Wednesday.

Also breaking the 10-second barrier, at :09 4/5, was hip No. 235, a filly consigned by Coastal Equine, LLC. The filly, who will sell during the opening session, is from a deep female family that includes champion Kamar, Grade 1 winners Love Smitten and Tap To Music and Sorrento S. (G2) Buffythecenterfold.

Vekoma is the only stallion represented in the three-day sale to have eight workers hit the 10-second mark. A winner of both the Met Mile (G1) and Carter H. (G1) during his 4-year-old campaign, Vekoma has bred an average of 210 mares in his first three seasons at stud. He is 2024 fee is $15,000 live foal.
