Vekoma filly races to victory in ‘TDN Rising Star’ debut

Formula Rossa rolled past heavily-favored Brilliantly at the top of the Santa Anita Park stretch on her way to a four-length maiden special weight win in the career debut for the 3-year-old Vekoma filly.
Winning under a hand ride is a lightning-quick 1:08.73 for the six furlongs, Formula Rossa was named a ‘TDN Rising Star’, the second this year, and fourth overall, for her sire.
The champion freshman sire of 2024, Vekoma is off to a white-hot start this year, already accounting for two dozen individual winners and four stakes winners.
Formula Rossa set a few lengths off the early pace set by Brilliantly, who posted a half-mile of :44.14. Formula Rossa kicked into gear just before turning for home and flew past the front-runner, who offered no resistance the rest of the way as the winner coasted under the wire.
Formula Rossa was bred by Greathouse Equine, LLC and Glencrest Farm, LLC. The chestnut filly sold to her owner Muir Hut Stables LLC for $270,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearling sale.
