Undefeated Xtreme Diva becomes Coal Front’s first stakes winner
September 10, 2023
Coal Front’s rising 2-year-old filly Xtreme Diva is now 2-for-2 after winning the Northern Lights Debutante Stakes at Canterbury Park on September 9th to become her sire’s first stakes winner.
Ridden by Eduardo Gallardo and trained by McLean Robertson, the bay filly first broke her maiden in her debut on August 9th in romping fashion by 12 lengths. She cruised to victory in her stakes debut by 7 3/4 lengths nearly equally as easily. Sitting comfortably behind the leaders, she drew in the stretch without any extra urging from her pilot.
Bred by Scott Pierce, Xtreme Diva is out of the black type-winning Old Topper mare Silly Little Mama. She is campaigned by Xtreme Racing Stables LLC.
Coal Front is one of the only first-crop sires in North America to sire a stakes winner to date, moving his total progeny earnings now to over $440,000. He has 8 winners from 20 starters and is in the top 6 among freshmen sires in 2023. The multi-millionaire Coal Front himself was a five-time Graded winner including the Grade 2 Amsterdam at Saratoga at 3 and the Grade 2 Godolphin Mile at Meydan Racecourse at 4.
