Undefeated Taraz romps in Martha Washington S.

Into Mischief’s superlative 3-year-old filly passed her first two-turn test with ease Saturday, rolling to a four-length victory in the $150,000 Martha Washington S. at Oaklawn Park.
With Florent Geroux in the irons, the bay filly was off a step slow, but quickly recovered to take the lead going into the first turn. Cruising through a half-mile in :47.50, Taraz was never really threatened from there on, and widened under a hand ride in the stretch to win easily.
“I love her,” said Geroux, who has ridden the filly in all three of her starts. “She (finished) up good today. I think she’s definitely super talented.”
“It was a big effort in her first race around two turns,” added trainer Brad Cox. “We knew she would be tough to catch, but she has a lot of improving to do. Her talent is there but she needs to settle down mentally.”
Taraz has won her three starts by a combined 22 ½-lengths. The Juddmonte Farm homebred out of Silk Route has earned $192,412.
Though Cox wouldn’t commit to her next start, he recently mentioned that she could face the colts, pending the outcome of the Martha Washington.
