Undefeated Mailman Money on target for Risen Star S. (G2)
January 13, 2020
Mailman Money stamped himself as a horse to be reckoned with after his six-length allowance win Jan. 12 at Fair Grounds. With his second victory in as many starts, the 3-year-old son of Goldencents will now be pointed to the $400,000 Risen Star S. (G2), also at Fair Grounds, on Feb. 15.
A debut winner by three-quarters of a length sprinting on the slop at Churchill Downs, the flashy bay stretched out to two turns on Sunday, and had no problem with the extra distance, powering to the front entering the homestretch, then drawing off with complete authority (VIDEO).
Mailman Money was a $150,000 buy at the 2019 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds. He is owned by Allied Racing and bred by TK Stables LLC. He is the second foal out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Running Debi C and is from the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Kicken Kris.
Goldencents has had a terrific first two crops. He finished 2018 as the #2 First-Crop sire, then bettered that last year as the #1 Second-Crop sire. Breeders responded as well in 2019, when he covered 239 mares, among the top five of all North American sires. A son of leading sire Into Mischief, Goldencents is standing this year for $25,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
