Two new debut winners for leading freshman sire Vekoma

On June 23rd, the first crop of 2-year-old winners by red-hot leading freshman sire Vekoma grew by two, as colts Faster Gator and Murdock broke their maidens respectively on debut, giving their sire an impressive eight winners now on debut.
Murdock demolished a field a Hawthorne by 10 1/2 lengths, running the 4 1/2-furlong race in :51.70. Trained by Larry Rivelli, the colt is out of the Midnight Lute mare Saucy At Midnight and is from the family of Rose To Gold. Murdock was a $120,000 RNA at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, and he turned into a $375,000 2-year-old at the OBS Spring Sale, selling to current owner Carolyn Wilson. He was bred in Kentucky by Torie Gladwell and Knollwood Stable.
A few hours later, Faster Gator broke his maiden at Laurel for trainer Anthony Farrior. Faster Gator showed good early speed before opening up in the stretch to win by 2 3/4 lengths over his rivals. He ran the 5-furlong race in :59.42 over a fast local track. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Romar Farm LLC & BRS and is out of the Nobiz Like Shobiz mare Comforter. Faster Gator was sold for $50,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to owner Richard Burnsworth.
