Thousands Words’ 11th winner comes in maiden special weight debut

August 8, 2024

Macho Man earned a hard-fought maiden special weight win Aug. 7 at Horseshoe Indianapolis to become the 11th winner for First-Crop sire Thousand Words.

Thousand Words, currently second on this year’s Freshman Sire list, has been red-hot over the past week. In addition to Macho Man, Thousand Words tallied his first graded stakes winner when The Queens M G took the Adirondack S. (G3) Aug. 4 at Saratoga, Empirical Mischief was a maiden special weight winner at Ellis Park, and A Thousand Miles was stakes-placed in the Lassie S. at Emerald Downs on Aug. 3.

Macho Man was a three-quarter length winner in the 5 ½-furlong race on the main track. Breaking from post 11, he was three-wide on the backstretch and around the turn, then won an extended stretch duel with Vino Dominus to secure the win.

Macho Man is owned by his breeders George and Martha Schwary. The dark bay colt is one of five winners out of Georgie’s Sweetie, who is a full sister to Del Mar Futurity (G1) winner Georgie Boy.
