A Thousand Miles cruised home a 3 ½-length winner of Saturday’s Arizona Oaks to score her first stakes win and become the third stakes winner of the month for her sire [WATCH RACE].
With a trio of stakes placings already on her resume, 3-year-old A Thousand Miles earned the win in Saturday’s one-mile race at Turf Paradise in front-running style. Sapello La Fina applied steady pressure to the pacesetter for six furlongs, then A Thousand MIles shook clear and won going away in 1:35.14 on a fast track.
The winner, owned by Bryon Seymore, is a solid 3-2-2 in seven starts. The chestnut filly was bred in Kentucky by John and Riley Hess.
Thousand Words, a top-10 First-Crop sire last year, has three stakes winners this term. His 3-year-old filly Caribbean Gal is a two-time graded winner in Puerto Rico, while The Queens M G, winner of the Davona Dale S. (G2) on March 1, is a leading contender for this year’s Kentucky Oaks (G1).
