October 11, 2024
Electric first year sire Vekoma was represented by another stakes winner, It’s Hammertime, in the Rocky Run Stakes at Delaware Park on October 9th, as well as a maiden winner at Keeneland during their exciting opening weekend.
Undefeated in three starts, It’s Hammertime was coming into the Rocky Run Stakes off a victory in the First State Dash, also run at Delaware Park. Trained by Gary Capuano and ridden by jockey Julio Hernandez, It’s Hammertime broke sharply out of the gate and pressed the pace setter from the outside into quick fractions. Into the stretch, It’s Hammertime broke away from his rival to win by 1 1/2 lengths. The 1 mile on the dirt was run in a time of 1:39.27.
Bred in Maryland by ZWP Stable and Non Stop Stable, It’s Hammertime is out of a stakes winning Not For Love mare Steady N Love making him a half brother to stakes winning Shackled Love. Never sold at public auction, he is owned by breeder Non Stop Stable along with Eagle Up Stable and London Reid Thoroughbreds.
On October 6th at Keeneland, C K Wonder bested a quality field of juveniles to break his maiden by 4 1/4 lengths. Stalking the pace behind the leaders, C K Wonder sat comfortably until mid stretch where he exploded past his rivals. The 7 furlong race on the dirt was run in a time of 1:24.81. C K Wonder was ridden by Corey Lanerie and trained by Dale Romans.
Bred in Kentucky by Dailey Bloodstock and Tommy Wente, C K Wonder first sold as a yearling at the Fast Tipton October sale for $65,000, and was later sold to current owner Mark Stanley for $130,000 at the OBS Spring sale earlier this year. He is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Dad’ssilverpitcher.
