Temple City’s Dynadrive rockets to victory in John Connally Turf Cup (G3)
January 28, 2024
Dynadrive scored an emphatic victory in Saturday’s $200,000 John Connally Turf Cup (G3) to give the veteran son of Temple City his first graded stakes win.
The third stakes horse of the year for his sire, Dynadrive is one of 31 stakes winners by Temple City.
Dynadrive turned in his best performance in the 1 ½-mile Connally since winning the Lure S. in the summer of 2022 at Saratoga. After an alert break, he was placed nicely just behind the pacesetter Ocelot going into the first of three turn. The pace was moderate, with six furlongs going in 1:18.32, and the running order did not change. Dynadrive was still in second with a quarter mile to run, then after turning for home, showed a very swift turn of foot to blow by the leader and win going away by nearly four lengths.
A veteran of 33 lifetime starts, Dynadrive is 9-6-2 and has earned $588,015. He is owned by Three Diamonds Farm and was bred by Spendthrift Farm. Dyandrive’s stakes-winning dam Harbingerofthings, is also responsible for Bernard Baruch S. (G2) winner Tell Your Daddy.
