Temple City gets his second stakes winner of the week
June 4, 2022
Another Mystery weaved his way through traffic in the stretch to win Hawthorne’s Black Tie Affair S. by a half-length over Temper Tantrum on June 3 (WATCH RACE).
The 6-year-old son of Temple City was the second stakes winner of the week for his sire, following Temple City Terror’s win in the Keertana S. on May 28 at Churchill Downs.
Another Mystery, who won the John Connally Turf Cup (G3) in January, looked to be in a desperate situation at the top of the Hawthorne stretch. He had sat behind horses for most of the trip, and had nowhere to go while parked along the rail. He finally found an opening inside the furlong marker and shot through, collaring Temper Tantrum late to get the win.
This was Another Mystery’s second straight win in this race, and gave him four career stakes wins overall. Owned and bred by Team Block, his record stands at 8-3-3 in 28 starts, with earnings of $465,500.
