Temple City 2yo breaks maiden in stakes debut
September 26, 2020
Omaha City stormed down the stretch of the Gulfstream Park turf course to get his maiden-breaking win in the $75,000 Hollywood Beach S. on Saturday afternoon.
The dark bay son of Temple City had hit the board in all three of his previous turf starts and proved ready for the step up in class. After tracking in fifth for three furlongs, he loomed up three-wide into the stretch and ran by Big Daddy Dave late to win by 1 ¼-lengths in :58.81 for five furlongs on the “good” turf course.
Omaha City was bred by Spendthrift Farm and is owned by Mohamed & Bibi Jehaludi.
One of America’s best value sires, Temple City is the sire of 11 stakes horses to date in 2020. In addition to Omaha City, Temple City was represented Saturday by Another Mystery, who placed in the John Henry Turf Championship (G2) at Santa Anita, and Friday by Temple of Zoom in the Freedom of the City S.
