Strive for a Cure threads needle to take debut
September 19, 2018
Goldencents racked up his fifth winner in the last four days on Sept. 19 when Strive for a Cure made two daring moves to win a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight affair at Belmont Park (VIDEO).
Goldencents now has a total of 17 winners from his first crop, six more than any Freshman Sire.
Though Strive for a Cure was making his career debut, he turned in a performance worthy of a seasoned racehorse. Allowed to settle along the fence out of the gate, the 2-year-old colt started to gain on the leaders with three furlongs to run. He came through a very narrow opening at the top of the stretch, then once again squeezed past Steam Engine with a sixteenth to run to win by 1 1/4-lengths.
The winner is owned by Louis Ulman and bred by Bloom Racing Stable.
