Spendthrift-bred Lord Nelson filly sells for $290K at Saratoga
August 11, 2021
Lord Nelson wrapped up the prestigious Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings sale with a $290,000 filly during Tuesday’s closing session.
Lord Nelson’s average price at the two-day sale was $350,000, 14 times his bred-on stud fee.
Four Star Sales Agency was the consignor for hip No. 197. Bred by Spendthrift Farm, the filly went to Brittlyn Stables.
The chestnut filly is out of Sliced Bread and is a half-sister to the recently-retired Kanthaka, a son of Jimmy Creed who won both the San Vicente S. (G2) and Laz Barrera S. (G3).
Lord Nelson has a pair of yearlings in next week’s Fasig-Tipton NY-bred sale, then a total of 35 cataloged in the Keeneland September Yearling sale, which runs Sept. 13-25.
