Solid returns Thursday at OBS for Wicked Strong
April 26, 2019
A pair of six-figure juveniles anchored another good day for Wicked Strong at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, topped by a $170,000 filly purchased by August Dawn Farm.
Top Line Sales, Agent, was the consignor of hip No. 727. The filly is out of the Tapit mare Tap Twenty One, who is a half-sister to stakes winner No Mo Dough and from the family of multiple G1 winner Wekiva Springs.
A short time later, hip No. 734, a colt consigned by J V C Training and Sales went to Ed Plesa, agent, for $140,000. His dam Temptation Bound is a sister to a pair of stakes winners.
Including Thursday’s results, Wicked Strong’s 2019 2-year-old sales average is more than 10 times his stud fee.
Wicked Strong is part of Spendthrift Farm’s Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
