Six-figure Race Day colt Wednesday at OBS
April 25, 2019
First-crop sire Race Day’s results from the second session of the April 23-26 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training included a $150,000 colt purchased by Michael Langford.
The chestnut colt, hip No. 346 consigned by Woodside Ranch, agent, has an eclectic pedigree that includes the likes of Grade 1 winners Ivyanna and Snowflake.
With the 2-year-old auction season approximately half complete, Race Day’s juveniles have averaged more than 17 times his stud fee of $6,000. The First-Crop sire has his first entrant, Tapit on Race Day, in Thursday’s 8th race at Keeneland.
Race Day is part of Spendthrift Farm’s Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
