Shoplifted gets first stakes win in $400,000 Remington Springboard Mile

Into Mischief’s 2-year-old colt Shoplifted earned his first points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby Challenge with his come-from-behind win in Sunday’s $400,000 Remington Springboard Mile S. at the central Oklahoma track (VIDEO).

Owned by Grandview Equine, Cheyenne Stables LLC and LNJ Foxwoods, Shoplifted ran second in the Hopeful S. (G1) this summer and upped his earnings to $385,500 after Sunday’s big payday.

Shoplifted picked up 10 points toward a start in the 2020 Kentucky Derby (G1) and is currently fourth on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

Stuck behind horses for most of the trip, Shoplifted joined Embolden to take over the lead at the top of the stretch. Answer In joined the fray soon after, and the trio battled to the wire, with Shoplifted winning by a head over Answer In, and Embolden a half-length back in third.

Shoplifted was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall and Carrie & Craig Brogden. He sold for $800,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton March Sale.
