Shakin It Up filly takes Santa Anita Park debut
June 21, 2018
Stirred became the second winner for First-Crop Sire Shakin It Up on June 21 when the 2-year-old filly captured a five-furlong maiden special weight race by 1 1/4-lengths at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Mike McCarthy for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Stirred rallied from fifth at the top of the stretch to strike the front in the final sixteenth to win going away. She covered the distance in :59.30 on a fast main track.
Stirred was bred in Kentucky by Darrell Curry and is the first foal out of the Majestic Warrior mare Fay Na Na. The dark bay filly sold for $150,000 to her owner at the OBS March Sale of 2-year-olds in training.
With Stirred’s victory, Shakin It Up is one of only five Freshman sires of 2018 to register multiple winners. His first, B. B. Dude, won a five furlong maiden race at Churchill Downs on June 1. Shakin It Up is standing this year at Spendthrift Farm for $5,000 live foal.
