January 31, 2022
Goldencents got his first stakes winner of the year on Jan. 30 at Sam Houston Park when Seven Scents scored by 1 ½-lengths in the $75,000 Pulse Power Turf Sprint S.
The 6-year-old was one of four stakes horses for Goldencents in the first month of the year. The Spendthrift stallion topped the 2021 Fourth-Crop Sire list with progeny earning of nearly $7.9 million, as well as by winners with 146, and 19 stakes horses.
The nearly-white Seven Scents stood out in the field of seven going five furlongs. He chased the early pace along the inside before moving off the rail coming into the stretch. He flew by Bad Beat Brian in the final furlong to finish up in :56.86, about a half-second off the track record, on the firm turf.
The winner races for Claiming Game Racing and has earned $276,264. He was bred by FPF LLC and comes from the same family as Grade 1 winners Chief Honcho and General Assembly, the latter who stood at Spendthrift for several years.
