November 18, 2020
Russian Influence rallied from near last in the final three furlongs to wins Tuesday’s Miss Indiana S. by 2 ¾-lengths to give the 2-year-old daughter of Into Mischief her first stakes win in her third lifetime outing (VIDEO).
She is the 28th stakes winner this year for her sire, who leads the General Sire list with nearly $19.8 million in progeny earnings, an astounding $8 million ahead of his nearest pursuer. With six weeks remaining in 2020, Into Mischief has surpassed his then-record progeny earnings of $18.9 million in 2019.
Russian Influence was unhurried early in Tuesday’s 1 mile and 70 yard contest, her first start around two turns. Still well back in the field mid-way on the final turn, she began to accelerate rapidly as she came five-wide into the stretch. Full of run the rest of the way, she flew by Hungarian Princess with a furlong to go and won going away.
The winner is owned by the Elkstone Group and is now 2-0-1 in three starts and has earned $70,024. Russian Influence was bred by Greg and Deann Baer and is out of My Peg, making her a half-sister to two-time stakes winner Two Last Words.
