Regally-bred Lord Nelson filly brings $410,000 at Fasig-Tipton
August 10, 2021
Lord Nelson’s lone offering during the first session of the Aug. 9-10 Saratoga Select Yearlings sale sold for a robust $410,000, more than 16 times the bred-on stud fee.
The chestnut filly, hip No. 37, was bred by Spendthrift Farm and consigned by Vinery Sales, with Thorndale Farm the winning bidder.
The filly is out of the unraced Harlan’s Holiday mare Airs, who is a half-sister to the champion filly sprinter Covfefe, a daughter of Into Mischief, and a full sister to the Japanese multiple graded winner Albiano. This is also the family of Horse of the Year Festival of Light, champion Yaminin Paradise, and Grade 1 winners Acoma and Arch.
Lord Nelson, whose first foals are 2-year-olds, already has a two-time winner in the colt Bueno Bueno. His current yearling sales average of 2021 is $122,400, among the top five in sires of his generation.
