Race Home takes flight in Gottstein Futurity
September 23, 2019
Race Day chalked up his fourth black type winner from his first crop on Sept. 22 when Race Home put in a tremendous rally to win the $100,000 Gottstein Futurity at Emerald Downs (VIDEO).
Race Day leads all freshman sires with his four stakes winners, led by Grade 2 winner Consultora. He has five black type horses overall, while his progeny earnings are nearly a half-million dollars.
Race Home came out of the gate in no hurry in the 1 1/16-mile Gottstein, and found himself at the back of the 12-horse field. Content to hold his spot through five furlongs, he commenced his rally on the final turn, rapidly passing horses. Coming into the stretch full of run, he picked off foes until getting the lead in the final sixteenth and drawing away to win by four on the “wet fast” surface.
Race Home broke his maiden on Sept. 8 in his debut, and now has earned $61,325 for owner Tim Bankers. The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by Columbiana Farm LLC.
