Race Day juveniles sparkle at OBS Under Tack Show
March 10, 2019
Spendthrift stallion Race Day, whose first foals are 2-year-olds of 2019, will be represented by three juveniles at the March 12-13 OBS March sale, all of which turned in eye-catching works during the Under Tack show.
Topping the list was hip No. 232, a colt consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, who sped through an eighth mile in :09 4/5 seconds [WATCH] on Friday, which shared honors for the fastest time at the distance. The colt is out of the stakes-placed Ile St Jaycee, whose three winners to date include the stakes-placed Rockport Street.
On Saturday, hip No. 494 went the same distance in :10 1/5 seconds. The gray/roan filly is consigned by Kings Equine, agent. Her stakes-winning dam Spirited Away has produced seven winners, including Prospective, a son of Malibu Moon who won Canada’s Grey S. (G3) and is now at stud in Florida.
Rounding out the trio is hip No. 272, a colt who went the eighth in :10 2/5. Consigned by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, the bay comes from a deep family that includes graded stakes winners Too Much Bling and El Kabeir.
Multiple graded stakes winner and track record-setter Race Day has bred over 330 mare in his first three seasons and is standing in 2019 for $6,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
