Palace colt wins debut in Delaware Park MdSpWt
July 25, 2019
Multiple Grade 1 winner Palace was represented by his first winner on July 24 when the colt D W Fitz tallied a one-length maiden special weight win at Delaware Park.
Stalking the pace set by Fed Xman through the first half-mile, D W Fitz took over the top spot in upper stretch and gamely held off the stubborn pacesetter to score the victory.
The winner is owned by Jagger Inc. and was bred by DW2 Equine LLC. His dam Flirty Fitz, a stakes winner in her own right, has produced three winners from as many starters.
Palace, winner of both the Forego S. (G1) and Alfred Vanderbilt H. (G1) in his illustrious career, is participating in Spendthrift Farm’s Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
