Omaha Beach tops $8 million in earnings to lead 2024 Second-Crop sire list

January 2, 2025

Omaha Beach finished atop the 2024 Second-Crop Sire list in nearly every statistical category, including having just over $8 million in progeny earnings, more than $1.2 million than any other sophomore sire.

The Spendthrift stallion was especially strong in the stakes categories, with 11 black type winners, four of them collecting graded stakes wins. His Grade 1-winning duo of And One More Time and Kopion made him the only Second-Crop sire with multiple winners at the highest level in 2024. Overall, Omaha Beach had 21 stakes horses for the year, four ahead of his nearest pursuer, fellow Spendthrift stallion Maximus Mischief.

Omaha Beach’s average earnings per starter also topped the list at $49,989. He had five Grade 1 horses total, while no other sire on the list had more than two.

In the sales ring, Omaha Beach was among the top sires of his class as well, with his 2-year-olds of 2024 averaging $142,623 and several of his yearlings topping the $500,000 mark.

In his first five years of covering mares, Omaha Beach has had an average book of 185 mares, attesting to his popularity. He will stand the 2025 season for $35,000 S&N.
