August 6, 2024
The offspring of leading Second-Crop sire Omaha Beach attracted plenty of attention Tuesday at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale when a pair of yearlings brought $500,000 each.
First through the ring was hip No. 141, consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services LLC, agent and purchased by BC Stables. The bay colt is out of the Distorted Humor mare Satirical and is a half-brother to stakes winner Ari Gold and graded stakes-placed Petruchio. Satirical is a half-sister to millionaire and multiple graded winner Rule. Satirical’s dam Rockcide is a half-sister to Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Funny Cide.
Later in the session hip No. 178 sold to Resolute Bloodstock from the Sequel New York, agent consignment. Bred in Kentucky by Henley Farms, the dark bay filly is a half-sister to stakes-placed Frosty Indulgence. Second dam Summer Song, a five-time stakes winner, is a half-sister to Grade 1-winning millionaire Don’t Tell Sophia.
Omaha Beach’s average sale price for the two-day auction was a stellar $335,000. The Spendthrift stallion’s second crop of runners are performing exceptionally well this year, with five stakes winners and 11 stakes horses to date, both the most for any Second-Crop sire.
