Omaha Beach filly sparkles in TDN Rising Star-worthy performance
August 22, 2024
With the Angels turned her Aug. 22 maiden special weight debut at Saratoga into a one-horse race when she rolled to an 11 ½-length victory.
The 2-year-old daughter of Omaha Beach was named a TDN Rising Star after the blowout win, the second such horse for the Spendthrift stallion. Omaha Beach is currently second on the Second-Crop sire list with $3.7 million in progeny earnings and has five stakes winners and 11 stakes horses this year.
With the Angels sped out of the gate to take the lead almost immediately. She carved out fractions of :22.51 and :45.62 as she turned into the stretch with a three-length advantage. She widened that margin at will and came past the finish line under a hand ride while stopping the timer at 1:10.40 for the six furlongs on a fast track.
The winner is owned by Winning Move Stable, Oxley, John C., Lady Sheila Stable and Rideau Racers LLC and sold for $350,000 at the 2024 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.
Bred by Joseph DeRico and out of Sister Margaret, With the Angels is a half-sister to stakes-placed Maggy’s Palace, while second dam Dance Gal Dance was a four-time stakes winner.
