Omaha Beach filly romps in U. S. debut
October 19, 2023
The aptly-named Omaha Beach filly Launch began her U. S. campaign in style with a 7 ½-length maiden special weight win on Oct. 18 at Delaware Park.
The dark bay filly is the 16th winner for Omaha Beach, the second-most for any First-Crop sire, trailing on fellow Spendthrift stallion Maximus Mischief. Omaha Beach leads all freshman sires with four graded stakes horses. His 2024 fee will be announced later this year.
Launch faced the best juveniles earlier this year in both Great Britain and Ireland, where she placed in three stakes, including the Group 3 Fillies Sprint S.
Launch hustled out of the gate from her inside post position to get the lead in the first furlong. She began to open up on the field midway on the turn, and was all alone in the stretch, coasting under the wire in 1:11.74 for the six furlongs on a fast track.
Launch is owned by Amo Racing USA and was bred in Kentucky by Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds, LLC. Her dam Spark is out of the multiple stakes-placed mare Mon Belle, who is a full sister to Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Monarchos.
