Charlotte’s Heart stormed past the field in the final furlong of her maiden special weight debut Aug. 25 at Saratoga to win the 5 ½-furlong turf race for 2-year-old fillies by 1 ½-lengths.

The daughter of Authentic is the fourth winner for her top-10 First-Crop sire, who has a total of eight maiden special weight entrants in the final three days of August at Gulfstream Park, Saratoga and the lucrative Kentucky Downs meet.

Charlotte’s Heart, who is named for her owner Live Oak Plantation’s Charlotte Weber, showed she is a filly with plenty of future following her eye-catching finish on Sunday. Well off the pace for much of the race, Charlotte’s Heart displayed a very swift turn of foot in the final stages to blow by the field and win going away.

Live Oak purchased the bay filly for $725,000 at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale. She was bred by 30 Year Farm. Charlotte’s Heart is out of Achalaya, making her a half-sister to Casa Creed, a multiple Grade 1 winner at Saratoga by Spendthrift stallion Jimmy Creed.
