Omaha Beach filly leads gate to wire in handy MdSpWt score
December 30, 2023
Regulatory Risk controlled the pace from the outset of her one-mile maiden special weight race Dec. 30 at Aqueduct, winning with ease by 1 ½-lengths over a muddy main track.
The 2-year-old filly is Omaha Beach’s 23rd winner from his first crop, pushing his 2023 progeny earnings over the $2 million mark. He is one of four Spendthrift First-Crop sires to achieve that milestone, and leads the quartet by stakes winners with 10. He will have several chances to add to those totals with seven entries across the country on New Year’s Eve, including a pair of stakes horses.
Regulatory Risk established an early lead from her inside post, guiding the field through a half-mile an unhurried :47.18. She continued to dictate terms around the turn and came through the stretch without pressure, winning in hand.
The winner is owned by Klaravich Stables and sold for $235,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale. Bred by Upson Downs Farm and Louis Wright, Regulatory Risk is out of three-time stakes winner Walkwithapurpose and is a half-sister to stakes winner Where Paradise Lay.
