Offspring gives Into Mischief a Saturday stakes trifecta
March 7, 2021
Offspring’s victory in the Red Camelia S. at Fair Grounds was just part of a super Saturday for Into Mischief that included a trio of stakes winners and a pair of stakes-placed runners for the two-time champion sire.
While Life Is Good would cap the day later with his dominating score in the San Felipe S. (G2), Offspring got things started on the turf at Fair Grounds.
After finishing second in a pair of off-the-turf allowance the past two months, Offspring was back on the grass for the Red Camelia. Deftly handled by Brian Hernandez, Jr., the 5-year-old tracked in fourth before unleashing her kick in upper stretch. She surged to the front to win by 1 ¾-lengths in 1:39.80 for the “about” one mile on the firm turf (VIDEO).
“She’s really just had tough luck with the weather this meet and we obviously know grass is her preferred surface,” trainer Joe Sharp said. “She’s just an honest mare that’s made a living all winter off-the-turf and making the best of bad situations. I was happy for her to be able to get the stakes win that she needed for her future.”
The winner is owned by her breeder Oak Tree Stables and has now earned $177,478.
