Omaha Beach was represented by a new black type winner on the rescheduled opening day of the Keeneland spring meet when his rising 3-year-old colt Normandy Coast won going away in the $300,000 Palisades Stakes.

Ridden by jockey Ben Curtis, the talented bay colt stalked the early pace in the 5 1/2-furlong contest before bursting through an opening on the rail and drawing clear over the sloppy and sealed main track, hitting the wire a comfortable 3 1/2 lengths on top.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally, Normandy Coast is owned by Red Gate Racing who purchased him out of the 2023 Fasig-Tipton October Sale for $60,000. Bred in Kentucky by Haymarket Farm LLC, he is out of the Congrats mare Alliteration.

Now a winner of three races from 5 starts, Normandy Coast figures to climb the ladder into graded stakes company soon in his promising career. He holds earnings of $269,525 to date.
