Mr. Z returns to Keeneland for BC Dirt Mile (G1)
October 26, 2015
Malibu Moon’s millionaire son Mr. Z is part of a field of 11 runners attempting to capture the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) on Friday afternoon.
The well-traveled Mr. Z will be returning to Keeneland for the first time since October of 2014, when he finished second in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1). Since then, the D. Wayne Lukas trainee has raced at 10 different track, exclusively in stakes, collecting a win in the $500,000 Ohio Derby and five top-three finishes in graded stakes.
Three-year-old Mr. Z will be facing older horses for the first time in the Dirt Mile and will get the services of jockey Joe Bravo, who was also the rider in the Ohio Derby. He’ll break from post four on Friday, with a scheduled post time of 4:10 p.m. ET.
Mr. Z, who was initially campaigned by Zayat Stables, is now owned by Calumet Farm. He has earned $1,155,378 to date, making him one of three millionaires sired by Malibu Moon, along with 2013 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner and four-time graded stakes winner Life at Ten.
