Mitole’s 3yo filly Miuccia dazzles in Gulfstream stakes win, earns 90 Beyer
June 3, 2024
Miuccia became Mitole’s newest stakes winner June 1st when the speedy filly logged a gaudy 90 Beyer Speed Figure with an impressive score in the Game Face Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertich III, John Fielding and Robert Tribbett, Miuccia is out of the Speightstown mare Bay Harbor and comes from the family of the recent G3 Pimlico Special winner, Pyrenees (Into Mischief). Miuccia sold as a short yearling at the Keeneland January sale for $55,000, and she was turned into a $230,000 2-year-old at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale, where she was purchased by her current owners JR Ranch.
Ridden by Miguel Angel Vasquez for trainer by Gustavo Delgado, Miuccia stalked the early pace before going wide in the turn. Despite the lose ground, she eventually took over the lead and drew off by nearly 4 lengths at the wire. The promising filly ran the 6 furlong dirt race in 1:10.50. It marked the second win in four starts for the Mitole filly, as she broke her maiden in a Gulfstream Maiden Special Weight in March.
The win bumps up Mitole’s total progeny earnings to $4,722,937, as he continues to lead as the No. 1 Cumulative Second-Crop Sire. In 2023, Mitole was the Champion First-Crop Sire.
