Miss Temple City tops Female Turf Eclipse Award nominations
January 8, 2017
Miss Temple City, a three-time Grade 1 winner in 2016, is one of three finalists for the Female Turf Eclipse Award.
The brilliant daughter of Temple City faced some incredible competition last year, beating males in both the Makers 46 Mile (G1) and Shadwell Turf Mile (G1), as well as capping off the year with a thrilling score in the Matriarch S. (G1) in early December at Del Mar. She was beaten only 2 1/4- lengths after a troubled trip in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1).
Miss Temple City, who became a millionaire last year, was the leading runner of 2016 for her sire. Temple City finished the year ranked fifth on the Third-Crop Sire list with $4.3 million in progeny earnings. He is standing the 2017 season at Spendthrift Farm for a fee of $10,00 live foal.
Winners of the Eclipse Awards will be announced on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Gulfstream Park.
