Miss Sunset makes the grade in Raven Run S. (G2)
October 21, 2017
Into Mischief’s multiple stakes-winning filly Miss Sunset got her first graded stakes win on Saturday afternoon at Keeneland in the $250,000 Raven Run S. (G2). She is Into Mischief’s fourth graded stakes winner this year and his 12th lifetime.
Into Mischief ranks in the top 10 on the General Sire list by stakes winners (15), stakes wins (21) and progeny earnings ($8.6M).
The seven-furlong Raven Run turned into a two-horse race early on as Miss Sunset and Chalon battled through the first half mile in :45.61. Chalon had a short lead the whole way, until the final sixteenth, when Miss Sunset forged ahead to win by a half-length in 1:22.21, just a second off the track record.
“She was very nice. She ran very fast,” winning rider Julien Leparoux said. “I talked to Mike Smith (who rode her in her three most recent races, resulting in two wins), and he told me I had a great chance. When Mike tells you that (you know) she has a big chance.”
Miss Sunset is owned by her breeders Alan Klein and Phil Lebherz. With Saturday’s win, the 3-year-old filly has now won six stakes, is 7-1-1 in 11 starts, and has banked $600,390.
