Miss Hollywood stars in Gulfstream’s Monroe S.
July 31, 2016
Malibu Moon’s regally-bred daughter Miss Hollywood was an apt winner of the $75,000 Monroe S. Sunday at Gulfstream Park, rolling to a five-length score in the seven furlong contest for fillies and mares.
Miss Hollywood was in control from the start, posting a swift half-mile in :45.54 while up a length and a half, then widened her lead with ease and stopped the timer in a very quick 1:22.65 on the fast main track.
“We’re very happy with her race,” trainer Giuseppe Iadisernia said. “We expected her to run a big race.”
Owned by Run Hard Stables, Miss Hollywood is nearly perfect in 2016, with blowout maiden and allowance wins, and a narrow loss by a neck in the Barely Even S. July 3 at Gulfstream. Her overall mark now stands at 3-1-2 in six starts, with earnings of $121,585.
Miss Hollywood is a daughter of Hollywood Story, one of the most accomplished runners last decade, earning $1,171,105, with Grade 1 wins in the Hollywood Starlet and Vanity Invitational H.
Malibu Moon, once again a top-10 General Sire this year, is the sire of some seven stakes winners, nearly 100 winners, and earners of over $6 million to date in 2016.
