Mi Bago wins $200,000 Colonel Liam S. for third straight black type score
March 2, 2025

Vekoma’s Mi Bago gave his sire the second of two stakes winners on Gulfstream Park’s Saturday card with a dominant performance in the $200,000 Colonel Liam S.
The 3-year-old colt’s win came about two hours after Vixen took the Herecomesthebride S. (G3). Vekoma is leading the 2025 Second-Crop sire list in virtually every category, with four stakes winners, a pair of graded winners, 25 individual winners and earnings of over $2.7 million, which nearly three times as much as any other Second-Crop sire.
Mi Bago, who already won the Pulpit S. and Dania Beach S. during the Gulfstream meet, was in control from the outset of Saturday’s one-mile turf contest. After maintaining a 1 ½-length margin for six furlongs, the bay colt sprinted away from the field to win by 4 ¾-lengths in a very fast 1:32.51 on the firm turf.
Mi Bago, who also won the Algonquin S. at Woodbine in October, is now 5-0-0 in seven starts and has earned $387,850 for owner Gary Barber.
Mi Bago was bred in New York by Highclere, Inc. Out of Wabanaki, Mi Bago’s third dam is Battle Creek Girl, who in addition to producing three graded stakes winners, is the dam of Into Mischief’s broodmare sire Tricky Creek.
