Carmelina collected her second stakes win in the $100,000 Shamrock Rose S. at Penn National on Nov. 22, rolling to a 8 ¾-length victory in the six-furlong affair for 2-year-old fillies [WATCH RACE].
Carmelina is one of three stakes winners for Maximus Mischief, which is the most for any First-Crop sire. The Spendthrift stallion, who will stand for $25,000 in 2024, also leads the Freshman Sire list with 29 individual winners of 38 races.
Breaking from the inside post in the field of 10, Carmelina hustled to the lead and put two lengths on the field in the first quarter-mile. She began to edge away on the turn, and with a shake of the reins at the top of the homestretch, she rocketed away from the field and coasted under the wire in 1:.10.09 on a good main track.
The victory boosted Carmelina’s record to 3-0-0 in five starts and earnings to $161,800 for co-owners Cash is King LLC and LC Racing LLC.
The winner was bred by Lillith Boucher and is the first foal out of two-time stakes winner Complete St.
