Maximus Meridius streaks to double-digit maiden special weight win
November 28, 2023
Maximus Mischief’s latest winner Maximus Meridius put on quite a show in his Nov. 27 debut at Parx, rolling to a 10 ½-length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds.
The bay colt is Maximus Mischief’s 30th individual winner, which leads all First-Crop sires. The Spendthrift stallion is also one of only two freshman sires with three stakes winners to date.
Maximus Meridius was off a beat slow from his inside post, then found his stride and moved from ninth all the way into second, just a half-length from the lead, in the first quarter-mile. He pressed the pacesetter Bernie’s Mitts around the turn before taking control coming into the stretch. Under a hand ride down the lane, he finished up the six furlongs in 1:12.80 on a good main track.
The winner was bred by Westerly Farm and is owned by LC Racing, Cash is King LLC, and Wellesley Stable.
