Malibu Moon weanling hammers for $300,000 at KEENOV
November 11, 2016
A weanling chestnut colt by Malibu Moon sold for $300,000 to Alex and JoAnn Lieblong during Friday’s session of the Keeneland November sale, the highest price paid for a weanling by the top-10 sire thus far in the sale.
Hip No. 1094 was consigned by James M. Herbener, Jr., agent. The colt is out of V V S Flawless, the stakes-placed Deputy Minister mare who has also produced the Grade 1 winner The Big Beast.
Malibu Moon’s stellar stud career has produced two new Grade 1 winners this year, Gormley and Carina Mia. He will stand at Spendthrift for $75,000 stands and nurses in 2017.
